  • first of all let's count the largest square =1 square

  • then inside the large square there are sub squares(smaller squares and if we count them from the top to bottom row by row we get a total of 4 squares in each row .As as we could see there is a total of 4 rows like that so 4×4=16 squares

  • Now in these squares are divided further and let's assume that they are the large square and there is a total of 2 squares like that .

  • Then there are even smaller square inside them that is there are a total of 4 squares inside each square .And there are 2 squares like that so if we add them they form a total of 4×2=8 squares

  • So now if we add add our observations we get 1+16+2+8=27 squares in total
