In this rectangle ABCD,

we know that in rectangle opposite sides are equal.

AB=CD

x-3y=7. (1)

AD=BC

5=x-y

x-y=5. (2)

subtract equation (2) from (1),

-2y=2

y= -1

put value of y in equation (2)

x-(-1)=5

x+1=5

x=4

x=4 and y= -1

AB=x-3y= 4-3(-1)= 4+3= 7

BC=x-y= 4-(-1)=5
