through factor theorem,
(x-2)=0
x=2 and (x-1/2)=0 so, x=1/2
putting the value of both the x in the polynomial
p(2)^2+5(2)+r=0
4p+10+r=0...........(i)
p(1/2)^2+5(1/2)+r=0
p/4+5/2+r=0
p+10+4r=0..........(ii)
from (i) and (ii)
4p+10+r=p+10+4r
4p+10+r-p-10-4r=0
3p-3r=0
3p=3r (3 and 3 gets cancelled)
p=r hence proved
