Correct Question :

Children of class 7 prepared candles. They spent 150 rupees on wax and Rupees 8.50 on thread. the expenditure on coloured paper for packing was Rupees 12. 50. They spent 9 rupees on silver powder chamki. They earned 40% profit. If they sold half the candles at 50% profit at what profit percent did they sell the other?

Solution :

• Cost of Wax = Rs 150

• Cost of Thread = Rs 8.5

• Cost of coloured Papers = Rs 12.5

• Cost of Silver Powder = Rs 9

__________________________

 \sf \: Total  \: Cost  = Rs \: 150 + 8.5 + 12.5 + 9

 \sf \: Total  \: Cost  = Rs  \: 180

Price of Half of the Candles :

 \star \sf \: Half \:  Price  =  \dfrac{Total  \: Price}{2}

 \longrightarrow \sf \cancel \dfrac{180}{2}

 \longrightarrow \sf Rs \: 90

Given,They sold Half the Candles at 50% Profit.

 \sf \longrightarrow 50\% \: of \: 90

 \sf \longrightarrow  \cancel\dfrac{50}{100}  \times \: 90

 \sf \longrightarrow  \dfrac{1}{2}  \times \: 90

 \sf \longrightarrow   \cancel\dfrac{90}{2}

 \longrightarrow \sf Rs \: 45

Given,They sold Total Candle at 40% Profit.

 \sf \longrightarrow 40\% \: of \: 180

 \sf \longrightarrow  \cancel\dfrac{40}{100}  \times \: 180

 \sf \longrightarrow  \dfrac{2}{5}  \times \: 180

 \sf \longrightarrow   \cancel\dfrac{360}{5}

 \longrightarrow \sf Rs \: 72

Actual Profit on Other Half :

 \longrightarrow \sf \: Rs(72 - 45)

 \longrightarrow \sf \: Rs \: 27

Actual Profit % on Other Half.

 \bigstar \large \boxed{ \purple{ \sf \: Profit \% =  (\frac{Profit}{Cost  \: Price}) \times 100}}

 \longrightarrow \sf \:  \dfrac{27}{90} \times 100

 \longrightarrow \sf   \dfrac{270 \cancel0}{9 \cancel0}

 \longrightarrow \sf    \cancel\dfrac{270}{9}

 \longrightarrow \sf  \red{30\%}

Hence,Profit % on other Half is 30%

Answer:

Cost Of:-

  • Wax = ₹150
  • Thread = ₹8.5
  • Coloured Papers = ₹12.5
  • Silver Powder = ₹9

Total cost of the articles = ₹150 + ₹8.5 + ₹12.5 + ₹9 = ₹180

Half Price of candles = \frac{Total Price}{2} = \frac{180}{2} = 90

Half of the candles at 50% Profit = \frac{50}{100} × 90 = ₹45

Total Candles at 40% Profit = \frac{40}{100} × 180 = ₹72

Actual Profit:-

72 - 45 = ₹27

Profit Percentage = \frac{Profit}{Cost Price} × 100 = \frac{27}{90} × 100 = 30

Hence Profit = 30%
