Step-by-step explanation:

Given AB = BC (i), BX = XY (ii)

So by subtracting (ii) from (i), we can say, AB - BX = BC - XY

In the Figure (AB - BX) =  AX , and (BC - XY) = CY

So substituting them again the equation , we get AX = CY , which was required to be proved .
