x^2-5x-10=0
use quadratic formula ,
x={-b+_√(b^2-4ac)}/2a
where b is coefficient of x , a is coefficient of x^2 , and c is constant.
now,
x^2-5x-10=0
a=1
b=-5
c=-10
x={-(-5)+_√(-5)^2-4(-10)(1)}/2.1
={5+_√25+40)}/2
={5+_√65}/2
={5+_8.06}/2
=(5+8.06)/2 and (5-8.06)/2
=6.53 and -1.53
