Solution →

Given :-

  • Cone and hemisphere has equal radius and mounted on each other
  • Radius is 3.5 cm
  • Total height of toy is 15.5 cm

Now as we know that radius of hemisphere is equivalent to its height also . So

→Height of hemisphere= 3.5 cm

Then height of cone = height of toy - height of hemisphere

Height of cone = 12 cm .

→Now we have to find out the T.S.A of the toy , So it's TSA will be equal to the sum of C.S.A of cone and hemisphere .

C.S.A of cone →

Cone's CSA = πrl

Here we have to find out l ( slant height)

l =  \sqrt{ {h}^{2}  +  {r}^{2} }  \\

l =  \sqrt{ {12}^{2} + (3.5 {)}^{2}  }  \\

l =  \sqrt{156.25}

l = 12.5 cm

CSA = 22/7 ×3.5 × 12.5

CSA of cone = 137.5 cm² .

CSA of hemisphere→

csa =  \frac{2}{3} \pi {r}^{2}  \\

CSA =( 2/3)(22/7)(3.5)²

CSA = 539/21

CSA of cone = 25.67 cm ²

Now TSA of toy = CSA of cone+ CSA of hemisphere

TSA = 25.67 + 137.5

163.17cm² is the required area
