A solid object weighs 200N. When placed on a wooden plank, the area of the contact is found to be 5m². Find the pressure.

________________________________

Solution:-

Force (F)= 200N

Area (A)= 5m²

As we know, Pressure (P)= Force(F)÷Area(A)

200N÷5m²

40N/ or 40Pa

A brick is 30 cm long, 10 cm wide and 10 cm thick. It weighs 24N and is lying on the ground. Find the pressure.

_______________________________

Solution:-

Force (F)= 24N

Area (A)= 30cm × 10cm (l×b)

0.3m×0.1m= 0.03 m²

As we know Pressure (P)= Force (F)÷ Area (A)

So pressure= 24N ÷ 0.03m²

800N/ or 800 Pa

Answer:

SOLUTION 1

Pressure = Force/Area

200N/5m²

40N/m² or 40Pa

SOLUTION 2

Area = 30cm * 10cm

0.3m*0.1m

0.03m²

Pressure = 24N/0.03m²

800N/m² or 800 Pa
