1(let, the bigger number is x and smaller number is x-1
therefore x+x-1=43
or, 2x= 43+1
or, 2x= 44
or, x= 44/2
or, x =22
therefore bigger number 22, and smaller number is 22-1=21

2) let, her friend age is x
and her age is x-6
therefore x+x-6= 34
or, 2x= 34+6
or, 2x=40.
or, x=40/2
or, x=20
therefore age of the girl is 20-6=14

\textbf {ANSWER:}

1. Let the number be = x, x+1

ATQ:

x + x + 1 = 43 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 43 - 1 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 42 \\  \\  =  > x = 21
x = 21
x+1 = 22

2.Let the age of the girl be = x

Friend's age = x+6

ATQ:
x + x + 6 = 34 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 34 - 6 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 28 \\  \\  =  > x = 14

Girl's age = 14
