MARKONICOV'S RULE

i)It states that in addition reaction of H-X (where x is usually Cl or Br) to an alkene or alkyne, the hydrogen atom of the HX becomes bonded to the carbon atom that has largest number of Hydrogen atom.
ii)In simple words it follows the rule=>RICH becomes RICH,POOR becomes POORER.
iii)During these reactions carbonium ion is formed as an intermediate.
iv)It is used to predict the products.


ANTI- MARKONICOV'S RULE

i)This reaction is also known as Kharash effect or peroxide effect.
ii)It states that when HBr is added to unsymmetrical alkenes in the presence of peroxide, 1-bromopropane is formed contrary to 2-bromopropane.
iii)In simple words =>RICH becomes POOR and POOR becomes RICH.
iv)It is also an example of addition reaction of ALKENE.
