1.

14 - 12y = -10

-12y = -24

y = 2

2.

a) 14y = 7 for y = -1
14(-1) = 7

-14 = 7 which is false

So y = -1 not a solution

b) 2(x + 9) = 20 for x = 2

2(2 + 9) = 20
22 = 20 which is false

So x = 2 is not a solution

c) 7p + 10 = 45 for p = 5
7(5) + 10 = 45

35 + 10 = 45

45 = 45 which is ture

So p = 5 is a solution

d) 8b - 1 = 9-2b for b = 1

8(1) - 1 = 9 - 2(1)

8 - 1 = 9 - 2

7 = 7 which is true

So b = 1 is a solution

3.

a)5x - 2 = 13
For x = 1

5 -2 = 3 =/= 13

For x = 2

10 - 2 = 8 =/= 13

For x = 3

15 - 2 = 13 = 13 So x = 3 is the solution

b) 2x + 7 = 17
Try for x = 1..4

for x = 5

2(5) + 7 = 17

10 + 7 = 17

17 = 17 which is true

so x = 5 is the solution

c) 47 = -10a + 3a + 12 => 47 = -7a + 12

Try for a = -1...-4

for a = -5

47 = -7(-5) + 12

47 = 35 + 12

47 = 47 which is true

so a = -5 is the solution

Hope this Helped! Do mark as brainliest :D
