p(x) = 4 {x}^{2}  + 4 x+ 4 \\  { \alpha }^{2} +  { \beta }^{2} =   2u \\ then \\  \alpha  +  \beta  =  - 1 \\   \alpha  \times  \beta  = 1 \\  { \alpha }^{2}  +  { \beta }^{2} =  {( \alpha  +  \beta )}^{2}  - 2 \alpha  \beta  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  = 1 - 2 \\ so \\  { \alpha }^{2}   +  { \beta }^{2} =  - 1

2u=-1

u=-1/2
