Given - Electricity bill and Telephone bill are in the ratio 6 : 16

Let the Common Ratio be : R

:\implies  Electricity bill of the Family = 6R

:\implies  Telephone bill of the Family = 16R

Given : ₹ 800 more was paid for Telephone than for Electricity

:\implies  16R - 800 = 6R

:\implies  16R - 6R = 800

:\implies  10R = 800

:\implies  R = 80

:\implies  Electricity bill of the Family = (6 × 80) = 480 ₹

:\implies  Telephone bill of the Family = (16 × 80) = 1280 ₹

Ratio of Electricity Bill to Telephone Bill=6:16

Let Electricity Bill=₹6x

Let Telephone Bill=₹16x

Then Total Bill=6x+16x=₹22x

In Question Given.

Telephone bill(16x) is 800 more than Electricity Bill(6x)

Means Telephone Bill=6x+800

Total Cost=(6x+800)+6x

=12x +800.

Both The Total Cost is Same.

A/Q

22x=12x+800

22x-12x=800

10x=800

x=\frac{800}{10}

x=80

Electricity bill=6x=6×80=₹480

Telephone Bill=16x=16×80=₹1280

In Question Telephone Bill is 800 more than Electricity Bill.

Check

1280-480

=800

Hence it is Right.

\boxed{\mathbf{Electricity\:Bill=Rs.480}}

\boxed{\mathbf{Telephone\:Bill=Rs.1280}}
