By my guess, this is an AP(Arithmetic Progression) which follows as -4, -3, -2, -1....,x

And whose sum is 437

So we use the formula for Sum of 'n' terms of an AP

Sⁿ = n/2(2.a + (n-1).d)

437 = x/2 ( 2.-4 + (x-1).1)

874 = x. (-8 + x - 1)

874 = x² - 9.x

⇒ x² - 9.x -874 = 0

x = 9 ⁺₋ √(-9)² - 4.(-874) / 2

x = (9 ⁺₋ √81 + 3496)/ 2

⇒ x = ( 9 ⁺₋ 50 ) / 2

x = 29.5 ; -20.5
