Step-by-step explanation:

we can do it by elimination method

6x-7y = -7

x-7y = 8

we can eliminate the x side

taking the l. c. m of 6 and 1 we get 6

1(6x-7y = -7)

6(x-7y = 8)

6x-7y = -7. .......1

6x-42y = 48 ......2

substract 1 from second we get,

35y = -55

y = -11/7

we put the value of y in equation 1 and we get

x = 3
