let 7^x =t

7t + 7/t = 50

7t^2 + 7 =50t

7t^2 + 7 - 50t = 0

7t^2 - 49t - t + 7 = 0

(t - 7)(7t -1)=0

t=7

and

t= 1/7

now

7^x= t

7 = 7^x

x= 1:

and

1/7 = 7^x

7^-1 = 7^x

x= -1
