Solution:

(2z - 7) - 3(3z + 8) = 4z - 9

=> 2z-7-9z-24 = 4z - 9

=> -7z - 31 = 4z - 9

=> -31+9 = 4z+7z

=> -22 = 11z

=> (-22)/11 = z

=> -2 = z

Therefore,

z = -2

Verification:

Put z = -2 in the given equation,

we get

[2(-2)-7]-3[3(-2)+8]=4(-2)-9

=> (-4-7)-3(-6+8)=-8-9

=> -11-3×2 = -17

=> -11-6=-17

=> -17 = -17 [ True ]
