Given : 4y²   + 6/y²    =  11

To Find : Value of y

Solution:

4y²   + 6/y²    =  11

=> 4y⁴  + 6  = 11y²

=> 4y⁴ - 11y²  + 6 = 0

=> 4y⁴ -8y² - 3y² + 6 = 0

=> 4y²(y² - 2) - 3(y² - 2) = 0

=> (y² - 2)(4y² - 3) = 0

y² - 2 = 0

=> y² = 2

=> y = ±√2

4y² - 3 = 0

=> y² = 3/4

=> y = ±(√3) /2

Hence y = ±√2  ,  ±(√3) /2
