Step-by-step explanation:

let x-2y=3------------(i)

and 2x-y=9-----------(ii)

by substitution method

from (i)

x=3+2y

Now put x=3+2y in (ii)

2(3+2y)-y=9

6+4y-y=9

6+3y=9

3y=9-6

3y=3

y=3/3

y=1

put the value in (i)

x-2×1=3

x-2=3

x=3+2

x=5

y=1

x=5

Answer

x=5

y=1

Step wise explanation

x-2y =3 ----(1)

2x-y =9 ----(2)

From equation (1) we get,

x=3+2y ----(3)

putting value of x in equation 2 we get,

2(3x+2y)-y=9

6x+4y-y=9

3y=3

y=1

putting value of y in equation 3 we get,

x=3+2(1)

x=3+2

x=5
