x + y = 5
x = 5-y .........1

2x-3y = 4
put eq.1

2(5-y) - 3y =4
10 - 2y -3y = 4
10- 5y = 4
6 = 5y
y = 6/5

put this in 1
x= 5-y
x= 5-6/5
x= 19/ 5
hope it helps u

Hi....

x+y = 5
y = 5-x______1

2x -3y = 4 _______2

substitute 1 in 2

2x - 3 (5- x) = 4

2x -15 + 3x = 4

5x - 15 = 4

5x = 4 + 15

x = 19/5
