by sridharacharya we have x= (-b +-√b²-4ac ) / 2a

and by ur equation we have
a = 1
b= -2
c = -16
 thus

x={ - (-2) +- √(2² - 4. 1. (-16))}  /  2 . 1
  =(2 +- √68)  /  2
  = (2 + 8.246) / 2 ,  (2 - 8.246) / 2
  =  5.123 , 3.123
   or just leave it in fractional form with +-√68

Suddha: how?
Suddha: m sorry
Badal3: its ok coz the book ans is 4&-4 .but how i don't know
Badal3: ok bye
Suddha: hey the book answer is given wrong bcz if you replace the x with 4 and -4 the f(x) is not equals 0
Badal3: thank u ya u r right i m sorry thank u so much
Badal3: thanks book ans is wrong
Suddha: hmm its okay.. plz mark it brilliant..
Badal3: brilliant
Suddha: thank

The equation with us is
x²-2x-16=0
By equation method
a=1
b=-2
c=-16
D=b²-4ac
D=4+64
D=68
√D=2√17
x=-b/2a±√D/2a
2x=2±2√17
x=(1+√17).
or x=(1-√17)
