Solve the equations : 15x -6y = 30; 17x + 10y =118​

Solution:

15x-6y = 30. ÷ 3

5x-2y = 10............1; 17x+10y= 118...............2

multiply equation 1 by 5, we get

25x-10y = 50..................3

Add both equations 2 and 3,

25x-10y = 50

+ 17x+10y = 118

42x = 168 ======> X = 4

Substitute x= 4 in 1, we get

5(4) - 2y = 10

2y = 20-10

y = 10/2 ===> y = 5

Therefore, x = 4 and y = 5
