$\frac{(8x + 1)}{4 } + 1 = \frac{(x - 5)}{8}$

$\frac{8x + 1 + 4}{4} = \frac{x - 5}{8}$

$8(8x + 5) = 4(x - 5)$

$64x + 40 = 4x - 20$

$64x - 4x = - 20 - 40$

$60x = - 60$

$x = - 1$
