Solve the following.
1) A number is twice another numver. When the larger is subtracted from 50, the result is 2 more than when the smaller is subtracted from 40.Find the number.
The answer is = 8, 16

This is direct answer but please you have to do full method of this answer don't write direct answer because I have direct answer.

Firstly,if we consider larger one as x

Smaller one as y

So,1st equation is: x=2y

2nd equation is: 50-x=(40-y)+2

or, 50-x=40-y+2

or, 50-x=42-y

or, 50-2y=42-y

or , -2y+y=42-50

or, -y=-8

So, y=8

Then,by substituting the value of y into the 1st equation,we get :

x=2×8

So, x=16

So,numbers are 16,8
