Solution :

13(y-4)-3(y-9) = 5(y+4)

=> 13y - 52 -3y + 27 = 5y + 20

=> 13y -3y - 5y = 20 + 52 - 27

=> 5y = 45

=> y = 45/5

=> y = 9

Verification :

put y = 9 in the equation , we get

13( 9 - 4 ) - 3( 9 - 9 ) = 5( 9 + 4 )

=> 13 × 5 - 0 = 5 × 13

=> 65 = 65 [ True ]
