$6x + 2x = 28 + 12$

$8x = 40$

$x = \frac{40}{8}$

$x = 5$

$Checking \: Equation :$

$3(2x - 4) = 28 - 2x$

$3(2(5) - 4) = 28 - 5(2)$

$3(10 - 4) = 28 - 10$

$3(6) = 18$

$18 = 18$
