first we take the LCM or equation

= 25x+20-8x+40. =x+8

-------------------- -- ------
40. 4

next we cross multiply

=4 (25x+20-8x+40) = 40 (x+8)
= 100x+80-32x+160)= 40x+320
= ( 68x+240) = 40x+320
= 68x-40x. =320-240
= 28x. = 120
= x. = 120/28
= x. = 30/7
