3x+4y=10 .........1

x-y=2 .........2

multiply eq. 2 by 4,

4x-4y=8 .........3

add eq. 1 and eq. 3,

result : 7x=18

so, x=18/7

substituting x=18/7 in eq. 2

x-y=2

(18/7)-y=2

(18/7)-2=y

4/7=y

solution : x=18/7

y=4/7
