 \frac{5y}{2}  + 3 = 28 \\

 \frac{5y}{2}  = 28 - 3 \\

 \frac{5y}{2}  = 25 \\

5y =  25 \times 2\\

5y = 50

y =  \frac{50}{5}  \\

y = 10

(a) \:  \:  \frac{5y}{2}  + 3 = 28 \\  \\  \\  \frac{5y + 6}{2}  = 28 \\  \\ 5y = 56 - 6 = 50 \\  \\  \\ y =  \frac{50}{10}  = 5 \\  \\  \\  \\  \\  \\ (b) \:  \: 4n - 19 = 1 \\  \\ 4n = 1 + 19 = 20 \\  \\  \\ n =  \frac{20}{4}  = 5
