by multiplying through by 30

30(x+7)=17*5-5x*6

30x+210=85-30x

by collecting the like term

30x+30x=85-210

60x=-125

by dividing booth side by 60

x=-125/60

x=-25/12

⇒  x=-25/12

 to verify

x+7=17/6-5x/5

-25/12+7=-25+84=59

from the other hand

17/6-5x/5=17/6-(-5*25/12/5)

 =17/6+60/12/5=17/6+300/12=(34+300)/12=59
