Light pollution, also known as photopollution, is the presence of anthropogenic light in the night environment. It is exacerbated by excessive, misdirected or obtrusive uses of light, but even carefully used light fundamentally alters natural conditions. As a major side-effect of urbanization, it is blamed for compromising health, disrupting ecosystems and spoiling aesthetic environments.

Light pollution competes with starlight in the night sky for urban residents, interferes with astronomical observatories, and, like any other form of pollution, disrupts ecosystems and has adverse health effects.

Light pollution is a side-effect of industrial civilization. Its sources include building exterior and interior lighting, advertising, outdoor area lighting (e.g. car parks/parking lots), offices, factories, streetlights, and illuminated sporting venues. It is most severe in highly industrialized, densely populated areas of North America, Europe, and Japan and in major cities in the Middle East and North Africa like Tehran and Cairo, but even relatively small amounts of light can be noticed and create problems. Awareness of the deleterious effects of light pollution began early in the 20th Century (e.g. Beston), but efforts to address effects did not begin until the 1950s.In the 1980s a global dark-sky movement emerged with the founding of the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). There are now such educational and advocacy organizations in many countries worldwide.

Reducing light pollution implies many things, such as reducing sky glow, reducing glare, reducing light trespass, and reducing clutter. The method for best reducing light pollution, therefore, depends on exactly what the problem is in any given instance.

Hii mate!!

Light pollution refers to the added sound, carbon dioxide, etc. We can reduce it like reducing sky glow, reducing glare, reducing light trespass, and reducing clutter. The method which is, best reducing light pollution, depends on exactly what the problem is in any given instance.

We as individuals can also contribute to this as small steps initiated by us can make a great difference.Turning lights off using a timer or occupancy sensor or manually when not needed can be an option.Improving lighting fixtures, so that they can direct the light more accurately towards where it's actually required, and with lesser side effects.
Utilizing light sources to a minimum intensity that would be necessary to accomplish the light's purpose. Advancing existing lighting plans, and re-designing some or all of the plans depending on whether existing light is actually needed.

Thanks
I THINK IT HELPS...
