solve the following pair of equation by elimination method ×+2y =11 /2×-y=2​

Given,

x+2y=11. .........(i)

2x-y=2. .........(ii)

Multiply by 2 to eqn. (ii)

2(2x-y=2)

4x-2y=4. ..........(iii)

By elimination method,

Add equation (iii) and equation (i), we get

4x-2y=4

+ x+2y=11

5x =15

... x = 15/5

x=3

Put, x=3 in eqn.(i)

x+2y=11

3+2y=11

2y=11-3

y=8

2

Therefore, y=4

Hence, the value of x=3 and y=4.
