3x + y = 15 .... (1)

2x - y = 5 .... (2)

Add equation (1) & (2)

3x + y = 15

2x - y = 5

-----------------

5x = 20

Now

• 5x = 20

• x = 20/5

• x = 4

Put x=4 in equation (1)

• 3(4) + y = 15

• 12 + y = 15

• y = 15 - 12

• y = 3
