2x + 3y = 13 ---(1)

4x + 5y = 23 ----(2)

from eq.1, we get

2x = 13 - 3y

=> x = (13 - 3y)/2 ---(3)

substituting the value of (3) in (2)

4(13-2y)/2 + 5y = 23

=>2(13 - 3y) + 5y = 23

=> 26 - 6y + 5y = 23

=> -y = 23 - 26

=> y = 3

substituting the value of y in (1)

2x + 3(3) = 0

=> 2x + 9 = 0

=> x = -9/2
