solve the following pair of linear equation by the substitution method x+y=14 x-y=4​

Given :

x+y=14 and x-y=4

sol:

x+y=14......(1)

x-y=4........(2)

form equation (1), we get

x=14-y......(3)

putting this value in equation (2), we get

= (14-y)-y=4

= 14-2y=4

= 10=2y

= y =10/2

= y=5.....(4)

putting this in equation in .....(3), we get

x=9

x=9 , y=5.
