Answer: x=2  and y=3

Step-by-step explanation:

3x+2y=12-------1

5x-2y=4--------2

2+1 ⇒ 5x-2y=4

          3x+2y=12

           8x     = 16 (on addition)

∴x=2

Put x=2 in 1

3(2)+2y=12

6+2y=12

2y=6

∴y=3

For them to intersect y-axis, x=0

∴ 3(0)+2y=12                     5(0)-2y=4

 y=6                                   y=-2

They will intersect y axis at (0,6) and (0,-2) respectively.
