Answer:

2x - 5y = 14 --------- (1)

x + 2y = -2 ------(2)

(2) x 2  => 2x + 4y= -4 ------(3)

(1) - (3) => -9y = 18

                   y = -2

                   x = 2

The equation can be written as :

2x-5y-14=0

x+2y= 0

To solve the given pair of equation by cross multiplication ,we have to write their coefficient :

-5 -14 2 -5

2 2 1 2

x = y = 1

____ ____ ____

-10+28 -14 - 4 5+4

x = y = 1

___ ____ _____

18 18 9

X = 18 /9

=2

y = 18/2

= 2

Thus ,the value of X is 2 and Y is 2
