Hi ,
m² - 5m = -3
=> m² - 2 × m × ( 5/2 ) = -3
=> m²-2×m× (5/2)+(5/2)² = -3+(5/2)²
=> ( m - 5/2 )² = -3 + 25/4
=> ( m - 5/2 )² = ( -12 + 25 )/4
=> ( m - 5/2 )² = 13/4
=> m - 5/2 = ± √13/2
=> m = 5/2 ± √13/2
=> m = ( 5 ± √13 )/2
Therefore ,
m = ( 5 + √13 )/2 or m = ( 5 - √13 )/2
I hope this helps you.
