Question:-

Solve the following simultaneous equation

using graphical method .

x - y = 2,x + y = 6

Answer:-

  • The value of x is 4
  • The value of y is 2

To find:-

  • Value of x and y

Solution:-

  • x – y = 2.........(1)
  • x + y = 6..........(2)

Solve equation 1,

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x - y = 2}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x = 2 + y}

Put the value of x in equation 2,

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (2 + y) + y = 6}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 2 + 2y = 6}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 2y = 6 - 2}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 2y = 4}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: y =  \frac{4}{2} } \\

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: y = 2}

Put the value of y in equation 1,

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x - 2 = 2}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x = 2 + 2}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x = 4}

Hence,

  • The value of x is 4
  • The value of y is 2
