substract both equation, you get:
-2bx= -2ab-2b^2
so, x=a-b
you get y by putting this back in equation 2,
a^2-b^2+(a+b)y=a^2+b^2
or, y=(2b^2)/(a+b)

(a-b)x+(a+b)y=(a^2-2ab-b^2)
(a+b)(x+y)=a2+b2
by using cross multiplication method
__x__. _y_. __1__
a+b - (a2+b2). (a-b) ( a+b)
___ x________
a+b. { -( a2+b2) } a+b + a-b (a2+b2
__________y_________
-(a2-2ab-b2) (a+b)(a-b) (a+b)²
a+b(-a2-b2+a2-2ab-b2)
=(a+b)/2ab= -2ab/a+b
