Let the age of Rupali be x and age of Dipali be y
then x+ y = 29..... (1)
But rupali is 3 yrs younger than Dipali thus x = y - 3 .....(2)
Putting (2) in (1)we get
y - 3 + y = 29
2y = 32
y = 16
Putting value of y in (1) We get
x + 16 = 29
x = 13
Thus the age of Rupali is 13 and the age of Dipali is 16

Given : The sum of the age of Rupali and Dipali is 29 years , Rupali is 3 years younger than Dipali.
To Find : Rupali and Dipali Present age
Soluⁿ : Suppose the age of Rupali and Dipali are 'x' and 'y' respectively.
so, According to the first condition ;
x + y = 29 .....(1)
Now, According to second condition ;
x = y–3
x–y = –3 ......(2)
Solving Equations (1) and (2) ;
x + y = 29
x – y = –3
___________
2x = 26
x = 13
substitute the value of x in eqⁿ (1)
y = 29 – 13
y = 16
Ans. Hence the age of Rupali and Dipali are 13 and 16 Respectively.
