SOLUTION :

Let the number of men = x

Number of women = x + 89

Number of children = x +400

Total population of the village = number of men +number of women + number of children

Total population of the village = x + (x+89) + (x+400)

Total population of the village = 3x + 489

[Given : Total population of the village = 4989]

4989 = 3x + 489

3x = 4989 - 489 = 4500

3x = 4500

x = 4500/3 = 1500

x = 1500

Number of men = x = 1500

Number of women = x + 89 = 1500 + 89 = 1589

Number of children = x +400 = 1500 + 400= 1900.

Hence, there are 1500 men, 1589 women and 1900 children in the village.

Hi ,

It is given that ,

Let the number of men = x

number women = ( x + 89 )

number of children = ( x + 400 )

Total population of the village = 4989

x + ( x + 89 ) + ( x + 400 ) = 4989

3x + 489 = 4989

3x = 4989 - 489

3x = 4500

x = 4500/3

x = 1500

THEREFORE ,

number of men = x = 1500

Number of women = ( x + 89 )

= ( 1500 + 89 )

= 1589

Number of children = ( x + 400 )

= ( 1500 + 400 )

= 1900

I hope this helps you.
