Adding Eqns (1) and (2), we get;

x+y=5

x-y=3 (Minus and plus Y will get cancel)

$x = \frac{8}{2}$

$x = 4$

Substituting x=4 in eqn (1), We get;

x+y=5

4+y=5

y=5-4

y=1
