multiply eqn 2 by2

(x +2y= 5)×2=> 2x+4y=10

by eliminating

2x+3y=8

2x+4y=10

- - -

0. -y. =-2. => y=2

putting the value of y in eqn 2.

2x+3×2=8

2x+6=8

x=2/2

x=1

so , x=1 and y=2.
