X - Y = 4 -------------------2

FROM 1,

TAKE THE VALUE OF X AS 14 - Y

NOW SUBSTITUE THIS VALUE IN 2

14 - Y - Y = 4

14 - 2Y = 4

14 - 4 = 2Y

10 = 2Y

5 =Y

USE THIS VALUE OF Y IN 1 TO FIND X

X  + 5 = 14

X = 14 - 5

X = 9

THEREFORE X = 9 AND Y = 5
