Answer:

x+y=5 taken as eqn 1

2x-y=-2 taken as eqn 2

solving eqn 1 and 2

eqn 1×2 =2x+2y=10

eqn 2×1=2x-y = -2 change sign

3y=12

y=4

Answer:

The value of x = 1 and y = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Soln:

x+y = 5   ..........eq.(1)

2x-y = -2 .........eq.(2)

Adding equations (1) and (2)

 x + y =  5

2x - y = -2

3x      = 3

∴ x = \frac{3}{3}

∴ x = 1

Sub. the valve of x=1 in eq.(1)

∴ x + y = 5

∴1 + y = 5

∴y = 5 -1

∴y = 4
