since snake and peacock have same speed
so they travel the same distance
let A be the point where the snake had been sat and C be the point of pillar and D be the point where the snake is.
let us assume the point B from where the distance of peacock and the snake is same and mark the distance x
then AB=BD=x
in triangle ABC
a2=9^2+(27-a)2
a2=81+729+a2-54a
54a=810
a=810/54
a=15
then the snake had to travel 15m to reach peacock and the peacock will be caught at the distance of 27-a=27-15=12m
so they travel the same distance
