Question:

The cost of table ₹ 200 more than a chair. The cost price of 2 tables and 3 chairs is ₹ 1400. Find the cost of each.

Answer:

  • The cost price of each chair is ₹ 200.
  • The cost price of each table is ₹ 400.

Given:

The cost of  a table ₹ 200 more than a chair.

The cost price of 2 table and 3 chair is ₹ 1400.

To find:

  • The cost price of each chair .
  • The cost price of each table.

Explnation:

Let, the cost price(C.P.) of each chair be, 'n'.

∴ The C.P. of each table _

(n+200)

∴ The C.P. of 2 tables _

(n+200)×2

= 2n+400

∴ The C.P. of 3 chais_

(n×3)

= 3n.

∴ The C.P. of 2 tables and 3 chairs together_

(2n+400)+3n

= 5n+400

According to the problem:

5n+400 = 1400

⇒ 5n = 1400-400

⇒ 5n = 1000

⇒ n = (1000÷5)

⇒ n = ₹ 200.

∴ The C.P. of each chair is ₹ 200.

∴ The C.P. of each table_

₹(200+200)

= ₹ 400.

∴ The C.P. of each table is ₹ 400.
