According to the question, the Perimeter of the square = Perimeter of rectangle.

Let us find the Perimeter of the square first.

Area of square = 256cm²

we know that,

Area = side × side = (side)²

Side = √256 = 16cm

Perimeter = 4 × 16

= 64cm

Rectangle :

Let the length be x cm

Breadth =

$\frac{x}{3}$

As we know the perimeter,

$64 = 2(x + \frac{x}{3} )$

$\frac{64}{2} = x + \frac{x}{3}$

$32 = \frac{3x + x}{3}$

$32 = \frac{4x}{3}$

$32 \times 3 = 4x$

$\frac{32 \times 3}{4} = x$

24cm = x

Therefore,

breadth =

$\frac{24}{3} = 8cm$

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

Area = 24 × 8

Area = 192cm²
