2x² - 7x + 3 = 0

On comparing the given equation with ax² + bx + c = 0,

We get,

  • a = 2
  • b = -7
  • c = 3

By using quadratic formula, we get,

x = [-b ± √(b² – 4ac)]/2a

⇒ x = [7 ± √(49 – 24)]/4

⇒ x = [7 ± √25]/4

⇒ x = [7 ± 5]/4

Therefore:

⇒ x = 7 + 5/4 or x = 7 - 5/4

⇒ x = 12/4 or 2/4

∴ x = 3 or ½
